Leaves and green waste collection

Once a week – on Tuesdays

In Kirkland, collection of leaves and green waste takes place once a week on Tuesdays, starting at 7 a.m. Paper bags and other accepted containers illustrated below must be placed at the curb next to the brown bin before 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. Also, make sure that your bags or containers are placed on your property and not on the street, so as not to obstruct the street sweeper. Otherwise, the streets cannot be cleaned properly.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Green waste only (leaves, grass and yard waste)
  • Avoid heavy loads (over 20 kg/45 lb)
  • Place your bags/containers at the curb next to the brown bin before 7 a.m. Tuesday mornings
  • No plastic bags accepted

Dead leaves and green waste are not garbage!

It is prohibited to dispose of leaves and other green waste in the Friday garbage collection. The garbage removal contractor will leave in place bags and other receptacles containing green residues.

Let’s adopt good practices in reducing household waste and avoid using plastic bags to dispose of green waste!

Please ensure to make your landscaper aware of this regulation!

Did you know?

To dispose of dead leaves, you can leafcycle them using the lawnmower to shred and spread them evenly in a thin layer as a free natural fertilizer for your soil. Shredded leaves can also be used as mulch for gardens and landscapings.
